Viking Outdoor Parts, Explained
The parts of a Viking grill, listed in the order the gas meets them: from the regulator at the supply, through valves and burners, to the thermometer in the hood. Each page names the part, what it does and what usually goes wrong with it.

Follow the gas
- 01 Regulators and Gas Hoses (LP and Natural Gas) The regulator takes gas at whatever pressure the cylinder or house line delivers and lets through the steady, lower pressure the grill's valves are built for; the hose or flexible line carries that gas to the grill.
- 02 Gas Valves and Control Knobs Every burner on a Viking grill has its own valve behind the control panel; the knob turns the valve's stem, and the valve meters gas from the manifold through a brass orifice into that burner.
- 03 Grill Burners and Venturi Tubes The burner is the tube with a row of ports that carries the flame under the grates; the venturi is its open front end, where gas from the valve mixes with air before it reaches the ports.
- 04 Igniters: Spark Electrodes, Glow Igniters and the Module The part that lights the gas at each burner: a hot-surface igniter that glows on a current Viking 5 Series grill or, on older Viking grills, an electrode that throws a spark across to the burner.
- 05 The Infrared Rotisserie Burner A gas burner that spans the back of a Viking grill's cooking area and roasts food on the turning spit with radiant infrared heat, glowing red rather than showing a tall flame.
- 06 Ceramic Briquette Trays A tray of ceramic briquettes between a Viking grill's main burners and its grates: the briquettes take up burner heat, spread it across the grill and burn off most of what drips onto them.
- 07 Cooking Grates, Drip Pan and Grease Path The grates hold the food over the fire; the slide-out drip tray below the burners catches whatever fat and liquid the briquettes do not burn off. The grease path runs between them.
- 08 Hood Thermometer, Lid Springs and Handles The dial in the hood, which reads the air under the closed lid, and the pivots, counterbalance and handle that let a heavy hood rise and fall under control.
Where do Viking grill parts come from?
From Viking’s own parts channel. The 5 Series guide names Viking Range, LLC for replacement parts, sends owners to a dealer for items such as conversion kits, and asks for genuine parts whenever a repair fits one, so the warranty is kept.
Every part is matched to the grill’s model and serial number and to the gas it burns; one that fits a similar grill is not the same part.
